Tomorrow I fly to New York to showcase my jewellery at the "G'day USA - Designer Showcase".

MEDIA RELEASE

Aussie jewellery designer, Lisa Carney, has been chosen to showcase her latest collections at the New York Designer Showroom Fashion Event during this year’s NYC-based, G’Day USA: Australia Week 18 – 20 January 2011.

Carney, whose signature style is synonymous with innovation and sophistication, is an established name both at home and in Europe.  The Lisa Carney Design trademark features elegant and easy to wear, affordable accessories to transform your look, as well as iconic, stand-out pieces certain to get heads turning and people talking.

Inspired by ocean and shore, Carney’s work draws on a creatively eclectic mix of materials used in new and exciting ways.  Precious metals and semi-precious stones are combined with shimmering sea pearl and other marine treasures, whilst leather is spliced and swathed with beads and shells.

Each collection tells its own unique tale, be it the tactile beauty of wave-tumbled pebbles captured in sterling silver or the fascinating forms of a coral garden in matt gold brass.

Carney fans seeking a touch of sartorial escapism will not be disappointed.  Equally known for her avant-garde imagination and characteristic sense of fun, as she is for her stylish elegance, Lisa is set to steal the show this year with two of her latest creations.

Her show stopping High Heeled Flippers - originally worn by her models for her catwalk show - are now translated into silver and gold vermeil pendants.  Worn swinging from a chain, they are more soirée than snorkel.  The ultimate statement piece for the beach babe turned city siren, the High Heeled Flippers bring the beach to the street with a twist of ozone cool.

Drawing as always upon her local environment as inspiration, a stay in UK’s historic Warwickshire has been the creative impulse behind Lisa’s newest ‘must have’ accessory for the It girl seeking centre stage.  An original concept for a sandcastle ring has been transformed into a castellated medieval tower.  Cast in sterling silver and gold vermeil and with an ironic nod to the impending Royal nuptials, the Castle Ring makes a statement that blends regal heritage and urban chic in a totally unconventional way.

With celebrity clients including Madonna, Nicole Kidman, Kirstin Dunst and Oprah Winfrey, Lisa is looking forward to making a splash in NYC.

I've just returned from Positano on the Amalfi Coast in Southern Italy.  The last time I was there was 7 years ago and I had forgotton how much it takes my breath away.  Everywhere I look is beauty.  From the villas and houses that jut out from the hill, seemingly clinging to the face of the cliffs, these buildings rise from the sea to the sky in vibrant colour.  The sea is a beautiful and tranquil aqua green.  It felt good to sit on the warm rocks soaking in the sun.  By the beach, artists sit with their easles painting this amazing town.  I enjoyed strolling around the cobbled streets and visiting the shops.  Positano became fashionable in the '50s when Harpers Bazaar published John Steinbecks essay "Positano Bites Deep".

I am delighted to tell you that that you can now find lisa carney design at the best boutique in Positano.  La Bottega di Brunella.  You may be familiar with this brand as they are a fabulous fashion label available in top boutiques all over the world.

Here I am pictured in my new LCD Floral Maxi Dress which was a treat to wear for the first time this season. (available now at Peppermint Grove, Fountation and Lie Low! - see stockist page for details) I loved combining it with my favourite denim jacket.

Oh, almost forgot, while wandering along these streets with it’s scenic vista’s, I noticed a gated space that was tiled with these beautiful old tiles.  They really inspire me.  Watch this space!
