Lisa Carney, encircling the globe with jewellery designs for over a decade.
Born in Sydney, Australia, and making jewellery since childhood, her creative talents have been fuelled and inspired by travel across countries and continents. Her jewellery and designs embody a rich tapestry woven from life experience and embellished with a child-like curiosity that has never died.
"My inspiration has always come from nature and travel. It may be a precious find on a deserted beach or a vintage necklace or knick-knack discovered in a foreign market."
After a stint in the travel industry to feed her wanderlust, Lisa's design career was launched with her surf jewellery and accessory label 'Mamo Jo' (an ancient name given to mermaids in the Caribbean) and a contract to supply her brand to 'Quiksilver Europe' amongst many other Australian stores at the time of the 'women's surf boom'. Moving into high fashion came easily with her first collection under 'Lisa Carney Design' at the Mercedes Australian Fashion Week – 'dripping with the ocean's natural treasures'. This gained her plaudits and an instant career that most designers take years to cultivate. With her characteristic sense of fun, Lisa sent her models down the runway sporting high heeled flippers, shell garments and bikinis, and of course her stunning jewellery.
Her fashion pieces have featured in more than 40 magazines internationally and features have been written about her in Harpers Bazaar and Australian Vogue. Kirstin Dunst and Nichole Kidman have been styled wearing Lisa Carney Design creations and even Madonna is known to have bought some!
"My latest LCD collection is fresh and modern with clean lines and a reverence for simple elegance with a sassy edge."
